Southwestern Pennsylvania has long been a resource and industrial hub for the United States. The local coal and steel industries helped to fuel the rise of America as a global power. More recently, the natural gas boom has overtaken them and impacted the economy, people and landscape.

This new photo and video project looks at the visual effects these industries have had and continue to have on the region and what happens when it declines.
